... says 'Governor Bello has done very well' The  Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has called on journalists in the State to "guard against being used by unscrupulous politicians who may be out to run down the government of Kogi State under Governor Yahaya Bello for whatever reasons."  The Council urged journalists to let the ethics of the media profession take the center stage in their practice, noting that falsifying reports was criminal and that Governor Bello had performed very well.  Chairman of the Council, Comr. NYSC Announces Nov 2 as Opening Date for Batch ‘C’ Stream One Orientation Course

The Management of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has announced the date for the 2022 Batch ‘C’ Stream One Orientation Course In a statement Released by the Director, Press and Public Relations Of the scheme Mr. Eddy Megwa Fnipr on  Monday said it would commence on Wednesday 2nd November, 2022, and end on Tuesday 22nd November, 2022.   The three weeks orientation exercise would hold simultaneously in all the 36 NYSC Orientation camps across the country including the FCT, Abuja. “All the prospective Corps Members (including the foreign-trained) must present themselves for COVID-19 Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) or present evidence of full vaccination at the Camp before registration "Prospective Corps Members are advised not to embark on night journey to the Orientation Camps in order not to endanger themselves. “Details of camp addresses and locations would soon be made public in the national dailies and online media.”The statement said.   FUOYE Announces Oct 18 As Resumption Date The Senate of Federal University Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State (FUOYE), has approved October 18, 2022 as resumption date for its returning and fresh students.  It said the resumption of 2021/2022 Academic session for second semester of its returning students and first semester for its fresh students was with immediate effect.   In a release Titled "circular on resumption of 2021/2022 Academic Session" dated October 18, 2022 and signed by The University Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Adesina Ibrahim advised students to visit FUOYE'S website for an amended calendar with a view to taking cognizance of major activities.   The Circular Reads : "The University Senate at its 51st Statutory meeting held on Tuesday approved the resumption of 2021/2022 Academic session for second semester for the returning students and first semester for fresh students with immediate effec t."

Kogi Replies Dangote, Says we Must Separate Acquisition From Asset-Grabbing

THE  Kogi State Government, on Wednesday, responded to Dangote Industries Limited's insistence on 100 per cent ownership of Obajana Cement Company, saying that DIL's efforts at making Kogi State's demand appear unreasonable had only justified the state's protest against what it described as "callous and deliberate asset grabbing."  The state government maintained that Obajana Cement Company was solely founded in 1992 and owned by the state, which held 100 per cent of its shareholding in trust for its people, long before DIL ventured into the state and longer still before Dangote Cement Plc came into existence.  In a detailed response to Dangote Group's advertorial, titled, "Separating Facts From Fiction", the Kogi State Government noted that successive administrations had always invited Dangote Industries Limited and Dangote Cement Plc to prove that the Group paid anything at all  for the purported acquisition of Obajana and its alleged 100 per c

AKEREDOLU Dedicates National Honour To People Of Ondo State  Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has received the National Honours Award of the Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON.  The National Honour was conferred on Governor Akeredolu by President Muhammadu Buhari at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, on Tuesday.  In a brief interview after the ceremony, the Governor said the award has reinforced and strengthened his belief in Nigeria.  He said: ”This award means a lot to me because I never expected it.
